HDPE, PET or PP? Choosing your packaging material

1 min read

Each plastic suits different products. Here are the main differences to help you pick the right container.

The material of a container affects how well it protects the product, how it looks and what it costs. Here is a quick look at the three most common packaging plastics.

HDPE — high-density polyethylene

Strong and resistant to many chemicals, so it is widely used for detergent bottles, jerrycans and some pharmaceutical containers.

PET — polyethylene terephthalate

Clear, light and glossy — a good fit for syrups, liquids and personal-care products.

PP — polypropylene

Handles heat well, which makes it a common choice for caps and food containers.
